What We Collect (Spoiler: Almost Nothing)

Unlike most web applications, Survive the Meeting is designed with privacy as the core principle. Here's the complete list of what we might collect:

Essential Data (Always Collected)

• Current Meeting Timer
  Temporarily stored in your browser while you're timing a meeting. Deleted when you end the session.

Independent Optional Choices

• Meeting History & Statistics
  Completed meetings stay locally for 30 days. Cleanup runs when you open, resume, or use the app. Existing records receive the transition period described below.
• Basic Usage Analytics
  Minimal page/feature-use events and performance measurements are sent to Vercel only with separate permission. Events exclude meeting names, notes, durations, pain levels, costs, attendee counts, and raw referrers. Visits with a referrer are excluded from telemetry. Vercel may also process browser/device information and approximate location for the opted-in measurements.

Optional Data (Only If You Choose)

• Sharing Preferences
  Share counts and social achievements, when sharing and local history are both enabled. Sharing itself works without saving this progress.
• Personalization Settings
  Saved bingo boards, game statistics and collected sharing messages. The theme follows your device settings.

How We Protect Your Data

Meeting content stays browser-owned. Optional measurement is limited to the purposes described above:

• Local Storage Only
  All your meeting data is stored in your browser's local storage. We never send it to our servers.
• HTTPS Encryption
  All communication between your browser and our website is encrypted using industry-standard SSL.
• No Advertising Trackers
  We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking services that follow you around the web.
• Privacy-Aware Analytics
  Our analytics (Vercel Analytics) respect your privacy choices and only collect what you consent to.

Your Privacy Controls

You have complete control over your data. Here are the tools we provide:

• Granular Consent
  Choose exactly what data you're comfortable sharing through our privacy settings modal.
• Data Export
  Download retained history as CSV or a JSON backup. Temporary recaps have a separate download so you can keep their details before leaving the page.
• Delete Saved Optional Data
  Delete saved history and optional preferences from privacy settings after confirmation. Your active timer remains available; failed writes are reported so you can retry.
• Consent Withdrawal
  Change your mind about what you're sharing? Update your preferences anytime.

Your Data Controls

We provide controls to view, export, correct, and delete meeting data stored in your browser:

Access, Export, Correction, and Deletion

• Right to Access
  View all data we have about you (which is stored locally on your device).
• Right to Portability
  Export your data in a machine-readable format anytime.
• Deletion
  Remove individual saved meetings in History, or delete saved optional data through privacy settings. Essential timer state is kept separate.
• Right to Rectification
  Since you control your data, you can modify it directly in the app.

Data Retention

New completed meetings expire 30 days after completion. Existing records receive a 30-day grace period from your first updated visit, with a notice and export opportunity. Cleanup runs on app activity; it cannot run while the browser is closed. The active timer is separate. Without history permission, a completed recap remains temporary and only an anonymous daily total is retained until the next local day.

External Processing and Sharing

The site is served by our hosting provider. Optional usage/performance events go to Vercel only with your separate opt-in. You choose when to share meeting content:

• No Data Sales
  We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
• No Marketing Partners
  We don't share data with marketing companies or advertising networks.
• Optional Measurement
  Turning off usage analytics stops future events. It does not send your saved meetings anywhere or delete your local history.
• You Control Sharing
  Meeting-content sharing happens when you choose copy, download, native sharing, or a social destination.

Why We Built It This Way

Most productivity apps collect vast amounts of personal data. We think that's backwards. Your meeting suffering shouldn't become someone else's business intelligence.

Keeping meeting content on your device limits its exposure and lets us give you complete control over your data. It's better for you, and honestly, it's less work for us.

We believe privacy should be the default, not a premium feature. Your workplace pain is personal, and it should stay that way.
