Your privacy matters. Here's exactly how we handle your data—spoiler alert: we barely handle it at all, and that's by design.
🔒 Privacy-First Promise
Your meeting data stays on YOUR device. We don't track, store, or sell your information. Everything happens locally in your browser—because your workplace suffering is nobody else's business.
What We Collect (Spoiler: Almost Nothing)
Unlike most web applications, Survive the Meeting is designed with privacy as the core principle. Here's the complete list of what we might collect:
Essential Data (Always Collected)
Current Meeting Timer Temporarily stored in your browser while you're timing a meeting. Deleted when you end the session.
Analytics Data (Only With Your Consent)
Meeting History & Statistics Your past meeting data for generating analytics. Stored locally, automatically deleted after 30 days.
Basic Usage Analytics Aggregate usage statistics to improve the app. No personal information, just general usage patterns.
Optional Data (Only If You Choose)
Sharing Preferences Settings for social media sharing features. You control what gets shared and when.
Personalization Settings Your preferences for pain level indicators, motivational messages, and app appearance.
How We Protect Your Data
Our protection strategy is simple: we don't have your data to protect. But here's how we ensure what little we do handle stays secure:
Local Storage Only All your meeting data is stored in your browser's local storage. We never send it to our servers.
HTTPS Encryption All communication between your browser and our website is encrypted using industry-standard SSL.
No Third-Party Tracking We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking services that follow you around the web.
Privacy-Aware Analytics Our analytics (Vercel Analytics) respect your privacy choices and only collect what you consent to.
Your Privacy Controls
You have complete control over your data. Here are the tools we provide:
Granular Consent Choose exactly what data you're comfortable sharing through our privacy settings modal.
Data Export Download all your meeting data at any time in standard JSON format.
Complete Deletion Delete all your data with one click. It's gone from your browser immediately.
Consent Withdrawal Change your mind about what you're sharing? Update your preferences anytime.
GDPR Compliance & Your Rights
We're fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and respect your data rights:
Your Rights Under GDPR
Right to Access View all data we have about you (which is stored locally on your device).
Right to Portability Export your data in a machine-readable format anytime.
Right to Deletion Delete your data completely from your browser storage.
Right to Rectification Since you control your data, you can modify it directly in the app.
Data Retention
Meeting history is automatically deleted after 30 days to minimize data retention. Your current session data is deleted immediately when you end a meeting.
When We Might Share Data (Spoiler: We Don't)
The short answer: we don't share your personal data. Period. Here's the longer answer:
No Data Sales We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
No Marketing Partners We don't share data with marketing companies or advertising networks.
Legal Requirements Only We'd only share data if legally required, but since we don't store personal data, there's nothing to share.
You Control Sharing The only sharing happens when YOU choose to share your meeting stats on social media.
Why We Built It This Way
Most productivity apps collect vast amounts of personal data. We think that's backwards. Your meeting suffering shouldn't become someone else's business intelligence.
By keeping everything local, we eliminate privacy risks, reduce security concerns, and give you complete control over your data. It's better for you, and honestly, it's less work for us.
We believe privacy should be the default, not a premium feature. Your workplace pain is personal, and it should stay that way.
Questions About Privacy?
If you have questions about this privacy policy or how we handle data, we're happy to help. Remember: we can't access your meeting data even if we wanted to—it's all stored locally on your device.
For privacy-related questions or to report concerns, you can reach out through our standard communication channels. We'll respond promptly and transparently.
